Even Smaller Cell Phones

I just got a wireless headset this past weekend and today I got to start thinking about the next generation of cell phones. They seem be getting smaller and smaller.

The next generation of cell phones are being as small as the headset and you just use a simple remote control that fits in your hand to control it. It would be a pure auditory interface. Also, it would have Bluetooth technology built in so that it can interface with your computer. And instead of managing your phone lists, contacts and calendars via the cell phone you can do it via your computer. Therefore, any time you change cell phones you just upload the current list to the cell phone. Or even better let two cell phones sync up like the Palm PDAs have been able to do it via and IR interface for years. Of course, this would mean that there would be a need for the next generation of SIM chips for cell phones. One half the size the current one.

After that the remote would be lost and replaced by a pure verbal interface and that would recognizes the owners voice. So that if you have multiple people talking at the same time your cell phone nows that it is you talking. I know it is Star Trek-ish saying something "Cell Phone Call Adam". But the voice recognition is there already. Heck, all you need to do is do a pattern comparison between two spoken phrases and one that is stored and one that was just spoken.

Focused Solar Power

I had a wierd idea the other day.

Could a parabolic dish be used to focus the suns rays in to a single point be used to generate electricity more efficiently that the flat solar cells?

Or could the parabolic dish be used to focus sun rays in to a single point be used to heat water to generate steam to generate electricity and then have a way to capture the steam re-condense it and re-use it. Or at least re-use some of it keeping the overall water usage down.
